I've been switching back and forth between two methods of using the TA-15.

Method 1.
Channel 1 - TopBoost - pretty clean
Channel 2 - HI1, gain dimed, db output is about equal to ch 1, using the master

So, my gain structure is:
Ch 1, cleans
Ch 1 with Tim for a little dirt for crunch
Ch 2 for power chords
On either of these I have a Timmy set up to give a clean boost for leads. It boosts ch 1 more than ch 2 (because it really just saturates more rather than increase much of the volume)

(I run both in 15W mode.)

Method 2

Ch 1, clean (same as method 1)
Ch 2, Tweed with a little dirt - running louder than ch 1, for leads.

Timmy is set up to add a little dirt for crunch.
Tim is set up to add a lot of gain for power chords.

Method 2 gives me better boost for leads, since the boost is happening at the power section of the amp instead of a pedal feeding into the preamp. I like it better for that. But, I like method 1 because it's utilizing the tubes for distortion, which is very nice.

Any thoughts?

I'm continually messing with controls and tubes on this amp. It has some nice tones in that little box!

Another option you may wish to consider is running a high gain tube in V2, giving this amp a nice, tubey gain boost without the use of solid state pedals. Just something to consider when you get a chance.
