Transatlantic TA-15 head fried...out of the box

Hello there,

I'm a proud owner of a Mesa Boogie Mark V head, and I decided to acquire one of their little brothers, the Transatlantic TA-15 head.

As soon as I got home, and after following all best-practice procedures with a tube amp, there seems to be a problem with the head.

When I turned the standby button ON, there was a very large POP, smoke, burning smell, and a very loud hum coming out from the speaker. The fuse seems ok.

I don't want to try and turn it on again...not before having your feedback.

What should I do? Should I return it to the store immediately?

seems like a no brainer...I would NOT turn it back on. Call Mesa.
Smoke = bad news.

Return it.

I just got off the phone with Mesa Boogie...They're going to send me a set of tubes to try it out. If that doesn't work, i already have the return label to ship it back...so, win-win situation.

How did it work out? I just had trouble with a brand new MK V head I had for 2 weeks.
