2 more cents on tubes and tone

Lovin' my ED. recently upgraded an American Tele to a set of Klein Epic Broadcasters, highly recommend, and was listening to the amp. Fired off an email to Garey at MB to make sure and put a quad of vintage 5881s in. I'm a Blues and Rock guy and the tone with those 5881s is just what I needed. A little rounder than the straight 6L6s and just enough tone difference to hit the sound I was looking for. Has anyone tried the newer 5881s and how were they? I've used vintage ones in other amps I have, like the sound, but they are getting pricier as time goes on. Thanks for any feedback and info....
