A dutch band called Hammer Of Justice recorded these songs 2 years ago but never released it caus they werent happy with the sound.
I asked if I could mix the multitracks.

We didn't want to copy the AJFA sound 100%, but a more Black Album feel to it. The guitars have more mids and you can here a bassguitar in the mid-area.

Drums is almost 100% natural. I converted the kick to midi and back to kicksamples, but I didn't edit any of the velocity/timing.
Guitars are Preamp Out (from Mark III) into computer, and then some metallica impulses. They didn't record the di's from the guitars sadly, otherwise i'd reamp them tru my MS Studio Preamp.
Drums were recorded very bad, all muffled and dark. Overheads unusable, the OH's you hear are spill from the toms and snare.
Singer sounds a lot like James, live he is at his best with the older stuff.

They have the same songs on Soundcloud, but Soundcloud seems to rape the soundquality.
These mp3's are 320 kbs.

Enjoy!! :D

Ps.
I don't visit here often. If you have a question, email me at [email protected]

Ah I was hoping you'd post this Tom!

I'm the rhythm guitar player from hammer of Justice, I also don't post here very often but this is the right place to talk about metallica sounds of course.

The guitar sound is 4 separate tracks through the Mark III, 2 were recorded with a Ibanez RG 550 with a EMG 85 in the bridge pos. and 2 with my Gibson V-90.

I think we did actually have DI's because everything was re-amped several times with different settings though different cabs but in the end the impulses from the Bgelais IR pack were perfect for the job.

Bump: No more comments on the AJFA tone?

Although the quality is less, it's easier to stream, here's the songs on Soundcloud: http://snd.sc/M8Og5X
