Ignore the hype and trust your ears. Play more, buy less = better tone.

Re: Pic: Hetfield's current rig
james has used triple rectifiers back stage or out front in smaller shows. I've seen youtube clips with a TR halfstack. kirk has used the dual recto as well, though now he's got his Randall sig.

Re: Pic: Hetfield's current rig
His practice rig has had the Diezel for a long time, however he used to always have a 2 channel Recto in it. That's a 2010 Dual behind him.ryjan wrote: The VH4 or the Recto?

yeah it looks shiny and new, and you are probably right, but how can you tell it's not just another 3 channel triple rec?screamingdaisy wrote:His practice rig has had the Diezel for a long time, however he used to always have a 2 channel Recto in it. Re: Pic: Hetfield's current rig
That's their practice room at HQ. I think there's 2 of every amp ever made in there. He only used the 2 channel triple recto in his practice rig for a couple months. He's used Kranks, Blackstars, and Marshalls but has had the Diezel's in there for the longest. Can't say I'd blame him.

His practice rig has been a JC-120, Dual Recto and Diezel VH-4 for a long time.ryjan wrote:That's their practice room at HQ. I think there's 2 of every amp ever made in there. Just because he plays an amp and someone takes a picture of it doesn't mean it's part of his rig.

The sticks of Diezel and JC120 in the Mesa/Boogie amp switchers let us know that his live rig not confines only to that rack!

Re: Pic: Hetfield's current rig
It has a stacked 6-button footswitch sitting on top of it which would indicate that it is a Multi-Watt, which is what I think what Screamingdaisy is talking about. Can't tell if it is a dual or triple because you can't see the back. They are not his main tone live but at least he has one on tap to mess with. Never know when you'll need a Rectozodiac272 wrote:yeah it looks shiny and new, and you are probably right, but how can you tell it's not just another 3 channel triple rec?screamingdaisy wrote:His practice rig has had the Diezel for a long time, however he used to always have a 2 channel Recto in it. What do you know about Behringer XR4400 Multigate Pro? Have Hetfield ever used it or still uses it? Or was is just lie?

Re: Pic: Hetfield's current rig
The newer tone is fat and more balanced. Just like the Dr. Feelgood disc tone that Lars said they wanted to advance on. Some like the thrashy missing bass tone of AJFA. Meh, not so much. Broken Beat and Scarred has a killer one on the disc and live when I saw them. And Sad But True? That is some beat down riffing right there. FWIW more people sang that song at full scream than any other.
Diezel is killer gear. Herbert or VH4. Mixing metal amps is the way to go IMO. A Mark and a Rec together bring the pain. Bogner and Marshall. Cantrell gets sick tone in Rooster.
I'm just glad Hetfield and the boys still drag their rich old asses out and tour. a young metralhead not getting to see Metallica would be an injustice for all...

I'd love to hear Jaymz play that back-to-back with the VH4.
