Hi There,

can anyone help me out get the best possible/closest Petrucci tone for the F-30?

I think so yes. Try gain channel with contour, try mids full, treble 11 o'clock bass set to almost zero or zero. Because these knobs have their own way of affecting tone/gain you may find that pumping treble and mid to full may have to make you reduce gain to almost 1/3 (10 o'clock) to have a tight rythm sound. Also attack those strings with mute!

Also try to engage the loop. I know it sounds weird but having a volume pedal in there and completing the circuit (play with the mix knob in the back) tightens and compresses the sound.

Here is an excellent petrucci f-30 clip. This guy is awesome.

It is the f-30 petrucci contour ESP clip.

Also the normal gain channel with crancked treble and an eq in the loop works also fine for approaching some sounds but you have to have the master level up to make the loop work good with the eq (due to the weird parallel design mesa has).
