I have an Express Plus 5:25 combo and wonder what benefit there would be in switching to a Mark V: 35 combo.

I like the idea of the Fat clean and the 3 modes for the drive channel on the Mark, especially the Mark IV mode.

I have found the Express to sound a bit sharp and spiky on the clean channel with a Strat, and find it hard to dial out. The Burn mode on high gain is a bit grainy, sounds good with the gain at 10:00 or below but doesn't do a really convincing high gain tone to my ears.

Is there much to be had by switching to the Mark V:35? Is there a noticeable difference in tone and gain character?

Well you do get the GEQ. Oh, wait a minute.
You do get selectable wattages. Oh, wait.

Seriously, I liked the clean, crunch and blues channel on the 5:50 I had but it’s hard to find a bad sound in the MarkV.
