Mark V & Two Notes Torpedo Live
Finally had a chance to sit down and demo track with the Two Notes Torpedo Live. Man...I love this box!

EDIT - June 04, 2013 - Added another tune:
Mk V using Mk IV and Extreme modes with CanAbyss 1x12 and SM57. Clean guitar has a couple tracks of Mk V's clean channel, however, one will mostly hear the POD HD500 and JTV acoustic guitar and sitar: https://soundcloud.com/brianreidguitar-1

Gain: 1:30
Master: 1:00
Presence: 1:00
Treble: 1:00
Mid: 11:30
Bass: Zero
Preset EQ: 12:00
Output: 10:45
45w
Mark I Normal
Full Power
Of course, everything's approximately around there. It's very important to note the tone being acquired thru the Torpedo Live. I'm using the CanAbyss 1x12 with a 57 for one set of tracks and then an 87 for the other set. I couldn't be happier with the Two Notes product.

Re: Mark V & Two Notes Torpedo Live
That sounds great! The guitar really sits well in the mix.
Would you care to share some samples of the raw guitar tracks alone?

Re: Mark V & Two Notes Torpedo Live
I don't think I'll be able to get right on that this week, however, when I get time, I'll do that. The song consists of three rhythm guitar parts and I tracked them twice with two different guitars. A JP6 with the Mk I and a Epi Bonamassa with the Mk IV. These tracks are panned across the stereo spectrum for width.domct203 wrote:Would you care to share some samples of the raw guitar tracks alone?
Re: Mark V & Two Notes Torpedo Live
I also have a Mark V (and an RA-100) and the Torpedo Live which I've been using exclusively with all of my heads (Matchless, Egnater, and Two-Rock in addition to the Boogies) for about a year now... maybe a little more.
For a long time I was using some custom IRs I made from the Redwirez IRs which were basically combinations of G12H30 and EV 12L speakers. After going through a bunch of the built in cabs/mics I wasn't thrilled with what I heard but I loved being able to make my own. (Stay with me... I'm getting to my point)
About 2 weeks ago I sat down with my Mark V and the live and was just flipping through and came upon that CanAbyss cab that you used... it instantly got my attention (don't know why it didn't before.)
Then, after going through mics with it I ended up with the 57 as you did. And I NEVER like a 57 on any cab or in any modeler I've used.
I only say all this because you're right... the amp is only a small part of the equation. And if you have this torpedo live and you haven't tried the CanAbyss with the boogie heads you really should give it a try.

Re: Mark V & Two Notes Torpedo Live
Well...griff3...we - as Mark V owners - have a complete understanding of tweaking and the Torpedo Live only adds to that. I've found through a few simple tweaks (EQ and output) alone, I can get almost every TL preset to sound amazing with at least one mode of the Mark V and a 57 - which I, like you, have had near zero success with in modelers and such. As I've mentioned on their forum, I'm so jazzed about this unit that my rambling could result in the wrong impression. That said; I'm completely loving these two together. I truly hope you and everyone who may make the great decision of adding one to their arsenal end up with the same results and experiences.
