Well it didn't take long to get smitten by the LS Special. Off the bat it was a different beast then my V:90 or IIC+ and that's what I truly dig about it. With the IIC+ HR I'm used to running a Mesa GEQ pedal in the loop, in the LSS loop it provides the Ch2/Drive more tonal variability. Can see why folks would want to alter Ch2's tone a bit with various mods, it can be a bit one dimensional, but the GEQ loop approach works for me.
Have done a fair degree of mixing up preamps and power amps between the IIC+ and the V:90. Kinda like getting free NADs
Up to now my fav setup had been the IIC+ -> V chan3/extreme in 10W mode. But what I really dig now is using the LSS power amp in 5W mode with the IIC+ preamp. Having the el84s as an option is pretty cool.
