Anyone experienced issues with the 5U4 rectifier tube either coming loose and dropping out or having the center guide pin break in place? I have tightened up the wings that hold the tube in but have still had it drop out in transit- although less frequently. The pins have broken while in place multiple times, which is very strange. Fortunately I have a stock of 5U4's and have replaced them. Not sure what's going on.

Weird issue. If there are any metal sockets in the pin sockets, you could bend them slightly as to tighten them somewhat. You could also replace that socket and wings completely.

Or qrap the tube base with some heat resistant tape, so that the retainer bites it better. The tubes with broken key can be fixed with:

But then sometimes there isn't enough pin to keep it in the socket.

Heat Res tape: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=heat+resistant+tape&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aheat+resistant+tape

Great suggestion. Didn't think of the tape, that would probably do it. Also didn't know about the socket saver, very cool. I was able to super glue ones that broke, which was probably 3. Very strange problem. I've had dozens of amps over 43 years of playing and never encountered this type of problem. Thanks again!!
