Tone controls pre or post gain?

Easy. If you turn all the tone controls to zero, and there's no sound, they're "pre".

Then based on this mine was post, until I did the mid mod and now they do this.

This would make most fenders and marshalls tone controls post am I right?
 
Ok, on another forum I get an answer
Post... it goes stage 1, drive, stage 2, tone, gain.

It probably isnt really important. I just like to know these things. I will contact the local Mesa tech and see what he comes up with.

I'm sorry! My bad: they're post gain. I was thinking serial vs. parallel tone-control string. The manual clearly states that the tone controls come after the gain stages, not only this but you can clearly see it on how the controls are layed out: they're usually placed similar to the signal path.
