I've been having an intermittant problem with both channels in the 30 watt mode. After playing for 30 min. or so, suddenly the volume drops out and the sound starts distorting. When I switch to 15 or 5 watts there is no problem.
Tube problem? maybe? which tubes....or something else? :evil: help
 
Check the two center tubes (all 4 tubes are used in the 30 Watt Mode)
The 2 outer tubes (of the 4) are on in 15 Watt Mode so just move the 2 inner to the outer positions
You can check by swapping positions. The Far Left tube , facing rear, is the only tube used for the 5 watt setting.

I replaced the two middle el-84's with fresh mesa tubes from my dealer. So far it is working great! The problem was always intermittent so I'm still evaluating, but so far so good. I really appreciate the information concerning tube dedication layout, really helps diagnose problems. 8)
