Am I correct that I could plug a head into the effects loop return of my Lone Star combo if I wanted to? I'm asking because I wouldn't mind buying an Epiphone Valve Jr head or an Egnator or Bogner head and I don't have an external speaker cab.

I suppose so. If you use the "send" loop from the external amp(pre amp only) to the "return" of the host amp(power amp). That might exclude any amps that don't have a loop or a line out. Then there's the slave. Not sure what that's all about.

Hi there. Try and download the manual for the LS off the Mesa site. I remember reading exactly how to do this in the manual. I just don't remember right now.

Just plug the cable that goes from the speakers in your combo into the head instead of the combo. The cord may not be long enough to reach, but you could make one that is longer (or have it made for you if you're not handy with a solder iron)
