Hey everybody, about to join the family of short tails... (stupid joke) Ok, I'm about to get the head and been thinking about which cab.... In all honesty guys, does chanel 2 sound better with a closed cab? If so, is it possible to buy 2 cabs, have 1 for the clean chanel and a second closed cab for the OD? And by the cabs I meas the Lone Star cabs 2 x 12. How about the road king cab 2 x 12? Will that not work on the Lone Star? If it does would that be a good solution or does it not sound nice with a semi open back? Thanks for reading, and keep up the playing.

LSC's sound great with closed backs. Or open backs, and anything in between. As for ch 2, it's a tough call. I personally use a combo,(open) stacked on a 2x12 closed back for the best of both worlds. Bet that didn't help your cause my curly tailed freind.

Agree. The openback will get you more immediate impact and close volume, the closed will be more focused and projected. I think a Roadking Cab where you have both is a great idea. I use a 1x12 Roadster [closed, but ported] with a Celestion Gold and a 2x12 Roadster [closed] with Greenbacks and I'm thrilled. I'm looking to get a 2x12 Roadster Cab with the Vintage 30s and I think I'll be loaded for bear.

I recently picked up a 2x12 Recto cab to sit my pig on and I really like it. The brightness of the V-30's blends so well with the C-90's.

oooh! That sounds sweet. Piggyback stack. Is it orange?

Heck. My LSC sounds frickin' amazing plugged into my Marshall 4x12 1960A. Scary good. I think you just gotta try it out in anything you can... I doubt any decent cab/speaker config will make the amp sound bad -- just depends on what you want out of it.

8) It sure is orange. That actually had something to do with why I bought it. I didn't really have any intentions of getting an extension cab right now but I saw an orange Recto cab used with a matching grill cloth and figured why not. It turned out to be a good idea tone-wise and it looks cool as hell. I'll get a pick up tomorrow.

We're gonna needs some pics of that orange stack. And they say pigs can't fly.

I'll get a better 'guitar porn' style pic up, but this blurry one gives you an idea:

Hey, is that a Warren Haynes sig LP? I got one of those! KILLER.....

Yeah, I have #106. What about you? I love that guitar. I think all my other guitars have been really jealous since Warren showed up.

Now thats a rig! The only problem is you won't like your sound (as much)with the combo alone anymore. Once you go stack...you'll never look back.

Cool, I think I saw a post of yours on the Les Paul Forum about the WH sig models. Yeah, I have #48. They are the best Les Pauls I've ever played bar none.

As far as cabs, I am using an open back 2x12 with Cele Blues in it. I am using an LSS head though, but it is a great pairing for a darker amp like the LSS.

That's a fact already. It's too dark with just the combo and too bright with just the ext. Perfect in the middle!
