Several years ago, I demoed a 5:25 "non-plus" version, and thought it sounded great. I recently bought a 5:25+, and it doesn't seem to have as much "grind" to it on the Burn mode.

I read today (Mark V manual) the early "non-EQ" IIC+'s "had a certain attack and purity to the sound that the amps that had Graphic EQ on them just didn’t have." The reason being "It all came down to a coupling capacitor at the end of the EQ circuit that feeds the driver. In the EQ model, it was a great big cap that let a lot of sub-low pass, slowing down the sound and making it fatter. In my amp - a non-EQ version - this cap was smaller and didn’t let as much sub-low through - which speeds up the sound and makes everything tighter and more urgent."

Could that be the reason the Express and Express+ sound different as well? If so, is it possible to find out which cap it is so I can change it?
