Hi all. I’m planning to change the speaker in my 5:25+ combo amp and have a question about doing so. I know I can change the speaker from the back by removing the amp chassis, reverb, etc. But what happens if I simply remove the four screws on the front speaker grill? Will the grill with speaker just come off as a unit for a very easy swap?

Thanks in advance for your advice, wisdom, tips and tricks! I sure love this amp.

FYI, I’m planning to install an Eminence EJ1250 speaker.

The four screws in the front are grill-only. Don't bother.

I was able to do a swap only removing the reverb tank. Pull the tubes, leave the chassis.

I pulled the chassis and reverb unit. Was difficult getting the reverb unit back in with the covering tucked back neatly. Much easier on the Mark II with front mount speaker.

Thanks for your responses. Looks like I'll be pulling the chassis and reverb unit for a speaker swap. Enjoy your MB amps!
