Alternative for 5:25 classic footswitch

Hi there,

I'm looking into a used Express 5:25 Classic combo that I could pick up for a very good price. There's only one problem: it does not come with a footswitch. So I've been looking around for ordering the Express footswitch, but I've noticed that the newer ones are different, with an extra switch for the EQ function on the + series.

So I'm basically asking myself now whether or not this newer series footswitch would work on the classics (I obviously am aware that the EQ function would not work ).

What do you guys think? And if not, what would you recommend?

No way.

Tho old ones use a 5 pin Cable, the new ones have 8 pins.
You won´t be able to stick the 8 pin Cable from the new Footswitch into the 5 pin jack of the amp.

If you don´t have a matching 5 pin Cable (usual Midicable won´t do, because they have only 3 pins connected, but you need all 5 connected), you have to buy that, too:

Thanks for the info. Sadly, the MB online store apparently only ships inside the US, and I'm from Belgium...

Any other people who lost their footswitch and looked for an alternative? What did you do?

There are 1/4" jacks on the back of the amp that allow you to use normal latching switches. It's not the prettiest alternative, but it's the most cost effective.

You state the Mesa Store won't ship to you. Do you have any Music Stores that stock Mesa? If so, they can get you the correct pedal.

Definetely a good idea. This week, I've been e-mailing with a music store chain here in Belgium that stocks Mesa. The guy at customer service who did the follow-up on my request contacted Mesa, but at the moment he hasn't had a definitive answer yet. So as long as that hasn't been cleared out, I'm still looking for a usable alternative.

I got the amp this weekend. Love it. And what's even better: I can use my Rectifier footswitch for channel switching through the inputs in the back. Good news.

Anybody know if this is the same for the F30/50/100 series?

I use a Black Magic replacement footswitch for my 5:50 Express. Very nice; don't know if they ship overseas.

I use two Voodoo Switches latching switches one for Solo and one for Channel switching. They work fine but have to run two cords an then of course the batteries and have to remember make sure they are in the "off" position. Wish there was a two button single housing that used the 8 pin cord so only one cord and uses the power from the amp to light up the lights but haven't found one anywhere.
