Hello Folks,

Anyone have a spare Output Level potentiometer for the Mark IV? Part number 596821a. Or know where to get one?

250K audio taper, solid 1/4" shaft, with pull switch.

Or....anyone know if the stewmac part CTS 450S 3865 will work in this application?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.

Mesa shop has it listed:
https://store.mesaboogie.com/products/pot-596821a-replacement-for-596821-450s-250k-audio-with-pull-switch.html

They do state there the orginal is no longer available so the one on offer is custom built to have the same functionality.

The replacement is also not available. I’m hoping a user here or perhaps a repair person has one stashed away and is willing to part with it.

When you search for that part number at the Tube Amp Doctor this comes up:
https://www.tubeampdoctor.com/en/mesa-boogie-pot.-a250k-log-solder-lugs-push-pu

It says it is used as Master on Mk IVs. But also not available. Lots of dead ends so you might be forced to try the Stew Mac part. It looks like the same sort of specs. You could contact them and ask if they would reccomend it.

This site is pretty slow so you may not get an answer for a while.

Well, I have not received the stewmac parts yet, but I did some minor surgery on the existing pot..basically a shaft transplant. I removed the broken plastic shaft and replaced it with a solid brass shaft from another donor pot. While I had the pot open, I gave the guts a good deoxit cleaning. Now the universe is back in sync...The amp is back to its former glory, and no scratchiness on the volume knob to boot!
