I recently bought a 22+ for the headshell from a board member. I honestly didn’t know what to expect and am amazed at how great it sounds. I mainly play metal so I’m looking at the amp through that lens but from videos I’ve seen it does blues and other genres pretty well also.

It has that beautiful 3D harmonically rich distortion that older mesas have, a ridiculous amount of gain and just feels nice to play. A bit more forgiving than the mark series I guess. Kinda feels like the c+ a bit when all pots are pulled. But less good obviously :)

Anyway, I haven’t seen too many vids online in a metal context so I’ve recorded a couple very short videos, one of just in room mic and one properly recorded through logic to try and demonstrate how it sounds.

This one has the lead drive mod which adds a separate pot for lead drive. Settings were roughly:
- Vol 1: 8
- T: 8
- B: 0
- M: 3
- LD: 8
- P: 2
- GEQ: On with Standard V but treble reduced as the amp is inherently high in treble.

Unapologetic for the chugga chugga. Hope you enjoy and more hope this shows what it’s capable of for anyone considering these. I consider it to be a light, cheap early incarnation of mark series and they are very affordable when compared to the mark 2s.
