I just received a MB MK IV off ebay and there is a significant "ticking" noise, much like a geiger counter for detecting radiation on old TV shows. The amp still functions and the noise decreased when I switched the ground but its still there. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Hello and congrats! The MKIV is just an amazing amp.

The first things you should concern yourself with are the tubes. Try a fresh tube change or swapping some of preamp tubes positions around. You can also pull one tube at a time and see if there is a change in the sound of the noise.

But now that I read your post again, I am uncertain about any "ticking" noises. Most amps can generate a hissing, buzzing, crackling, or humming noise. But ticking sounds are nfamiliar to me. That Boogie has alot of motor under the hood, so good luck.
