DC-2 Problem

Post by eiopago47 » Tue Jan 23, 2018 12:11 pm

Hi,

first post here, thanks for having me.

I'm having a serious problem with my DC-2.

When I switch it on the volume keeps on cutting for about 1.5 maybe 2 hours. When this happens it's not just the volume but I get a very thin, distorted sound. After that the amp is ok and I can play without any drop outs and the sound is normal.

What could it be (power tubes, pre-amp tubes, filtering cap)? I really have no idea, any way to troubleshoot?

Thanks in advance.

I'd start by looking at tubes.

Thanks for the advice, in the end it was the effect loop (which I have modded to serial).
A good clean with deoxit did the trick (as well as using a patch cable between send and return).

That's a pretty common issue with effects loops. I'm not surprised.
