Is it determined from the very top number on the transformer?
I just looked at mine, it starts with 105-46....

All of mine have said MESA, 105-162318 and the bottom number varies a bit. It should be pretty obvious because they are like 3.5" tall. The standard one is about 2.75"

Here's a photo of the IIC+:

I just took a closer look, it’s hard to read the number, but it is the same number you listed. I tried taking a picture of it, kind of hard to do.

Here’s what it says
105-162318 OD
I’m confused, it definitely says 105, but it’s not 3 1/2 inches tall.

I don't know! I've never seen that many numbers/lines on a Mesa PT before. Also never seen one with a notch down the middle before. Maybe someone else has seen one like this? I have only been collecting these for a few years so I haven't seen it all yet. :)

Any of you guys compare one of the Mark IIIs with the 105pt to a C+ with a 105 PT? I would love to know if there was much difference in sound.

At one point I had both Mk.III 105 and C+ 105 and the C+ is it's own animal. The Mk.III is smoother and much more modern sounding with a compressed feel when heads up to the C+. The C+ is like a chainsaw or dirt-bike, where as the Mk.III is like a race car.

With the right guitar, you could get either to sound very similar because a guitar will change everything.
