Hey,

Can I put vol 1 on 5-6 for the clean channel and use a clean boost with the lead channel? Will it be the same as putting vol 1 at 8-9?

Definitely! I recommend doing that. It turns your amp up enough to get what is called "a little hair" on it which I enjoy for blues leads where I want just a little more sustain and bite. Try a bunch of different boost pedals if you have them, sometimes something that didn't work for one amp will work great on another. I picked up a mini TS-9 808 that is perfect for my tone.
