Someone has a IIC+ for sale that has a "Gain Boost" face plate and a serial number of 114XX. He says that it is only possibly a IIC to IIC+ upgrade. Seems to me that it must have been a IIC originally but then modded to IIC+. What say you? He wants 3K for it

That serial number is most certainly a IIC, not a factory C+. Read this: http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?t=18184&highlight=mark+iic

If I'm reading your message correctly, it is NOW only possible to upgrade a IIC to a C+ because the circuit board needed to upgrade a IIA or IIB to a C+ has not been available for many years.

$3,000 for an upgrade is very high. It could be kinda high for a factory C+ depending on the configuration and condition.

Yeah, that is what I thought. Just wanted to make sure that some new information did not come to light. He is a member on this forum and is currently trying to sell this on the classifieds.

BTW, I used to own (4) of these heads. Bought them all back in 2001-2002, all original IIC+ with EQ, Reverb. (2) of them were simul-class and (2) of them 100/60. I paid $1000-$1300 for them on Ebay and HC. Sold all but my Hetfield style simul-class long head. Heh, heh, it's MY "Crunchberries" amp.
