To whomever can help:

The time has come to add an extension cab to my Studio 22+. It has an 8 ohm speaker and I realize that I can use the two 4ohm outs to connect the internal combo speaker and an 8 ohm external. I'll probably buy a used M/B 1x12 extension (hopefully with a matching all caps MESA/BOOGIE grill badge.

But I am curious, what else might I add, could I safely (with regard to the amp and my sound) add a 16 ohm cabinet? Are there other configurations that might be pleasing and/or interesting? Thanks in advance for your $0.02.

It's usually safe to use a cab of higher impedance, but not lower, so a 16ohm cab would be fine in the 8 ohm socket.
