I'm using my Studio with the master high and the gain low for clean tones. I'm getting a lot of hiss. Do you think this is this tube related or something else? Any suggestions for driving the snakes out of my amp?
you wanted to
know about the design flaw of the
Studio Boogie. I am talking about
the original Studio, not the .22+
This has a voltage divider as the
first thing the guitar signal is
fed into, and this is so bad
design from an engineering view
that I wondered why they ever did
this.
This causes increased background
noise level (hiss).
The reviews of the amp in magazines
all complained about the higher noise
level as compared to the Mark Series
amps, no wonder! Not what you'ld want
in a studio amp.
The input stage of the Caliber .50
also has this, but with different
values so it is not as bad, and I
am not sure about the .22+ though
I don't think they have changed that
entirely.
I am not saying this can't be a great
sounding amp but it is a sin engineering
wise and the high noise level of mine
drove me nuts.
