Dear DC-5 players and technicians,
I just bought and reworked a DC-5A model - remembering the first year of my guitar teacher who owned that tone-brick and I played on.
Really lovable amp after changing tubes, cleaning and recapping - I enjoy the flexibility and tone.
Just what I noticed, but I'm not sure about the former days at my teachers:
- back in the days (of 1995) preferring the rhythm channel with gain boost enabled in my opinion the bass and especially the middle pot had influence in tone forming
- on my nowadays reworked amp with pulled gain only the treble control has noticeable reaction, bass and middle don't change tone .
Am I remembering incorrectly or is something wrong with my DC-5?
I already read in the schematics, noticing the relay contacts (pull function) and read in the DC-5 manual.
Relays are changing circuit but middle and bass are not completely out - confirmed by the manual hints I read.
Help or hints would be appreciated.
Best wishes from Nuremberg, Germany
Daniel
P.S., changes during repair:
Cleaning, recapping with Mesa Caps the power supply tree, Master Vol Mod, Blanket removal and parallel/serial Mod, retubed.
