Hi all,

Thanx to this very forum I got a second DC3 which I converted to a head for transportability and pairing with 2x12s (I actually bought the chassis only so it was natural to go to the head configuration).
Now, I love my first DC3, drive tones are just what I feel comfortable when playing rock but I must admit I’m not 100% satisfied with the clean to pushed tones from channel one.
Therefore, is there a way (provided that makes sense) to mod the amp (I’d do this to my second DC3 as I’d keep the first one as original as possible, even though I may explore minor mods like the volume one or the serial loop) so that its clean channel goes into a more “Fenderish” tone? I mean, less stiff, sweeter highs and scooped mids in the vein of a 65 Super Reverb?
Is that a nonsense? What should I look into, tubes, speaker change (it’s V30s now, I know they are not the right pairing for a Fenderish tone), circuit board mods?

Thanx and R&R!

Changing the V30s to a Jensen type of speaker (or a Celestion alnico) should help. I think that's what I didn't like about my DC-3.

Thanx

That could be an option, I’ll look into that. The only issue is that I’d like to use the two amps in a stereo configuration, so different speakers on the sides could be weird...
