Has anyone had any experience with a DC-5 combo loaded with an EV(M?) 12L? I'm on the verge of mixing the pre-amp tubes as one method to neutralise the mid range honk.
I used to own an Acoustic G60T years ago - a Boogie 6L6 clone - which was loaded with an 12L and it had punch to die for. Yes I know they're a heavy speaker.
I was wondering if replacing the Celestion which has a less dynamic feel with a 12L would also remove some of that honk? I've plugged the amp into a quad box once and it made a surprising difference so I know there is tone in there wanting to get out.
