Did Mesa base the DC-5 on a particular prior model? Just wondering if the DC-5 is similar tonally to the other models Mesa is producing. I'm sure this has been gone over before but didn't feel like searching.... :D I picked up a DC-5 a couple of months ago and I love the amp, just curious as to it's history. TIA.

The 50 Caliber amp came before the DC-5 (DC=Dual Caliber).
50 Caliber was based off of the Mark III. Just not all the features, such as push-pull pots and Simul-Class.
I can't remember if someone said the DC line as based more off of the Mark IV.

EDIT: This might help a little. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=44396&hilit=caliber+history

The Clean channel is from the Mark IV, the Lead channel from the Rectifier.

Thanks for the information!! I'm very happy I stumbled onto the amp, couldn't be happier with the way it's sounding.

No Problem. I wish less people would run into the DCs. They are great amps, and I would prefer to keep them a secret.
