New Guy W/ 50 cal+

Hi, I'm new to the board, I had a 50 Cal+ 20 years ago, had to get rid of it and recently traded an old Peavey for an other (SCORE!). I'm going to retube and am wondering if it's possible to use EL34's in this amp? I know that this is possible in some amps that are not fixed bias, but not sure if it will a 50 cal +. Thanks.

As is it's 6L6 only. It would have to be modified for EL34's.

Thanks, Can you suggest a good tube set? I am going to swap all the tubes. I have seen the suggestions from Eurotubes. I want a good classic rock/blues tone from the drive channel and nice glassy from the clean.

Winged "C"s are great, JJ's are not bad. If you got the money, some NOS Sylvanias or GE's sound best.
