Since I discovered that my marshall 2-button pedal doesn't work on my DC-5a combo, I've been doing some research on the channel, reverb and EQ pedals for the DC-5. From posts here and elsewhere I've gathered that the DC-5 (and some other Mesas) uses pedals that contain a specific resistor and other pedals won't work. I'm hoping to get a concensus here on which pedals (channel, eq and/or reverb) require a resistor and where in the circuit they exist.
According to the Mesa/Boogie online store (http://mesa.stores.yahoo.net/dcsers.html) the early DC-5(a) has a single button FS for the channel and dual button for reverb/EQ. The later DC-5(b) has a single button for reverb and a dual button for channel/EQ.
So far, thanks to lockbody (http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=38292&p=282626&hilit=footswitch+schematic#p282626) I have this picture of the inside of a single button Mesa DC-5 footswitch which shows a 3320 Ohm resistor between the tip contact and the lead to the LED (NOTE: DC-5 pedal is on RIGHT):
What I find confusing is that he used it for his EQ, not to switch channels as I believe a single button pedal would be normally used for in a DC-5a (or for reverb in a DC-5b).
I'd love to hear anyone's take on any of this. Any thoughts or information is appreciated.
