DC-5 Combo. Is it the speaker or the transformers?
I understand Celestion makes the Black Shadow speaker for Mesa..true?
I've read some posts about some DC owners switching to a V30 too (i have one in my PVClassic 30 and love it. If it would make the amp lighter..I would consider it..

C-90, V-30, all about the same, about 10.4 lbs.
The neodymiums go down to 4 lbs.
 
The cabinets are just plain heavy. Pull the chassis out sometime and see for yourself. I was surprised buy the weight the first time I had the chassis out. I don't think that a DC-5 is all that heavy. Try lifting a 2x12 Mesa 100 combo (any will do) in the trunk of your car after a gig. Thats why I now use only heads.
 
yea its just all heavey. the speaker is heavy, the cab is heavey, the trannies are def really heavey and the chasssis is pretty thick as well. just some total weight!
 
I thought exactly the same and boy it's the chassis for sure. It is made with 16 gauge steel! No kidding!
