Hello Everyone...

I am shopping for an original Mark I, or possibly a Mark IIa or IIb. I have owned a Mark III (Blue Stripe) and a Mark I Reissue but have never had the opportunity to play an original Mark I or IIa or IIb myself. So I am trying to make a decision of which to buy based on other people's experience and descriptions.

One of the amps that I am considering is a Mark I which was modified by Mike B. in the mid 80s, from 100/60 to Simul Class. To do this mod the OT was changed. That makes me wonder how that would have affected the original tone of that Mark I.

Wondering if anyone here has every played / owned / had experience with a Mark I modified to be Simul Class... How was the tone compared with a stock Mark I ? Especially Clean Tone ?

And how would that tone compare with the clean tone of a Mark IIa and IIb ?

thanks for any assistance !
