Been thinking about building a mark series clone. Anyone have any experience with the transformers from TAD, or mercury magnetics? Although if anyone has the datasheets (or an informal list of the inductance, capacitance, winding #s, et.c) for at least the output transformer, I would much prefer that (couldn't find them anywhere). Thanks

NEVER use power Boogie replacement transformers from TAD.

I bought one for restoring a MKIIB, and it was a PURE JUNK, defective right out of the box because the laminations were shorted by the 4 assembly screws...

The resulting high Eddy currents made the transformer unusable (immediate heating and hum, anormal voltages). Even after insulating the screws, the transformer stayed very noisy, because the windings were even NOT impregnated.

I returned the transformer in its original defective condition for test, and the "gurus" at TAD replied that it had no issue, retruning it to me... Still defective !

These guys are unknowledgeable and mojo escrows - do not monkey with them.

If you want to build a clone of a MKI or MKII, you can use a Fender Twin Reverb or Tone Master set of transformers that you can find at tubetown.net : these transformers are made by Hammond Mfg., are correctly built and cheaper than the obscure junky product that I bought from TAD...

A+!
