I've had 6v6s in my Mark IVA for over two years now and I really am attached to the tone in all three channels. I like the smooth, warm tone. I don't play this amp every day, my day job has a MK5:25. I like that little amp too, but the mid range of modern Mark amps just isn't quite the same, IMHO.

Anyone else using 6v6s out there?

Nope, but I've always wanted to try. Are you making sure you are only in tweed mode with those tubes, right?

Did you notice a volume drop with the 6V6's?
Are you using 4 in simul-class or just 2 with class A?
How is the gain in all 3 channels?

Sorry for all the questions, just wondering?

Thanks

Hello swbo101,

My account froze and I had to start a new one.

I love the 6v6 sound in the Mark IV. I had a set of 4 in class A, and I ran them for over three years until they died a few months ago. I haven't got around to getting more yet. Using some 6L6's I had.

The wattage is definitely less with 6V6 tube. I don't really know how to describe the gain in each channel, but overall there is a warmth (smoother?) to the tone that is not present with the 6L6 or EL34s.

The mark IV is not the main amp I play through live on a daily basis.
