The Mark II Manual states the 60/100 model (which cuts the 2 inner 6L6s when running 60) should plug 8ohm load into 4 ohm jack when running in the 60w/half power mode: "With 100/60 watt models we recommend that when you run a single 8-ohm speaker you use the 60 watt position and plug into a 4-ohm jack."

--I have a "Mark III 60/100" AND a "Mark IV" and both have inner power tube cutting options (Mark III - 60 setting, Mark IV - Class A setting which indeed cuts the inner tubes) and the manuals do not touch on the impedance topic at all..

Did Mesa change anything in the transformer configuring to where the impedance mismatching was no longer needed for half power or did they think it's common knowledge by then?

Does anyone know if that Mark II info still applied to the Mark III 60/100's and/or the Mark IV's since they also are cutting the inner power tubes?

Thanks for any input.

In over 25 years, no. Never heard of the MkII requiring special speaker jack use, either, but that doesn't mean anything. Nothing to worry about with the MkIII.
