Much as I love the EVM, I have to get the weight of my Mark iii down or it runs the risk of staying in the house.
I am looking at a Jensen Neo 12. However, I can't find any useful information about actually mounting it.

So...anybody....can you answer any of these questions:

(1) Have you fitted one in your Mark iii?

(2) Do they come with an unattached gasket so I can put it on the back of the frame for front mount? Or do you have to use a gasket in an open back cab?

(3) Do the screw holes line up with the existing ones OK?

(4) Will it physically fit with the the existing speaker hole in the baffle

Divide your baby in two parts like I did previously. Try to get a fine headshell and run the combo housing as a simple cab. I think it will sound even better and you`ll put off the first visit to your doctor because of your spinal column.....and you can keep the famous EVM.......:)

if the cab is open backed, a gasket will not matter for front loaded speakers

Speaker arrived. Fitted without incident. Didn't use a gasket. Screw holes and cutout matched fine.

Soundwise:

(1) Noticeably less volume than the EVM (hardly a surprise) but hardly a problem with the amount of amp power on tap.
(2) No great loss of bottom end depth or tightness, top end nice and smooth on overdrive. No horrible high end fizz.
(3) I haven't had to adjust any tone/gain/ graphic setting from the EV...a good sign.
(4) No idea yet as to how much break in will be required.

What a difference in weight! Objective achieved as my back can now manage the combo. Recommended.

FWIW, none of my original factory EVM 12Ls have gaskets for front mounting.
Good to know about the Neo, have to try 'em in a Thiele or two.
I have two L'il Texas (four lbs!!!) in a Twin, they're good, but neos tend to sound a bit bright to me.

Which Jensen did you purchase? The regular Jensen Neo or the Jet Neo?

Just the straight Neo. The spec for the Jet Tornado described more top end bite and less (and looser) bottom end.....neither of which I wanted.
Having now gigged with it, I find it smoother than the EVM. It is also easier to balance tones and volumes between channels, which is an unexpected bonus. I put this down to reduced speaker sensitivity. I always found the amp difficult to get quiet enough on the clean channel without "falling off" the master volume. It also reduces the contrast in volumes between R1 and R2 (no R2 mod).
So far, so good.
