Just as the title says.... when I turn up the master volume on my mark IV combo the amplifier does not get any louder. At all. It stays at a fixed volume (not very loud) but still sounds strong. No cutting out etc.. I talked to a tech who said it could be the volume pot but that seems highly unlikely to me. I have another amp from the 40's and that one is doing the same friggin thing now! What? did both master volume pots go out? Hmmmm.... Could this be a tube issue? Any help is appreciated.

It is obvious what your problem is .
You do not have Geese in your blunderware . Or any waterfowl at all .
I strongly suggest you find the nearest birdmonger and belly up .
Or have a qualified tech ... make you ,
Assume the cookie position , as it were .

This has been a public service announcement .

yeah no idea what that guy was talking about but i would bet its a bad pot or your tubes are on their way out.

a new pot: $3

new set of tubes: $80

someone replying to your post talking about birds or something of the like when youre tying to figure out why your amp isnt working: priceless

Ok,
Here is a flow chart style thing .
Perhaps my last post was a tad abstract .
A: check speaker wire (s) Turn on amp .
B: Twist knobs CLOCKWISE .
C : Standby is off , right ?
D Amp is making a subdued humming sound ? Thumbs up .
E :Unplug guitar , tap tip of cord .Popping noise ? Good .
Your ducks are in a row
f : Plug in guitar . , Hit strings . Twang ?
Twang is good . It is why we play these **** things .
G : no twang ? Find tech .
I hope this clears things up .

lol, that just brought me a big grin

Has anyone experienced this problem? It seems strange to me that I have 2 amps with this problem yet nothing can be found of the issue from doing google search. If you any of you have had this problem before what was your solution?

At what volume does this occur? At lower volumes, around 1-3 or so, the Master should make a big difference. But, at higher volumes, say around 5 and up, the Master won't make that much difference in perceived volume. However, the tone should get thicker as the power tubes are pushed.

What are your individual channel volumes set at?
