It was the best thing i could buy at the time in the 80's channel switching ,
didn't need an overdrive box but
it always had a kinda dry midrange without enough sustain unless
there was too much gain .
Anyone got mods or ideas to help it ?

if anything i only use the power amp now ,
it's an early simulcass with the pull rythm
screened over the mnkII front panel

tia ,

I run an SD-1 in front of mine and it sounds godly.
I keep the lead drive at about 5 1/2 , the volume at 7 and boost it with the SD-1 and it sings.

You probably have an early Black Stripe. Those amps sounded a little too brittle. I would send the chassis to Mike Bendinelli and ask him to do a thorough cleanup and check up. I would also ask him to add the Rhythm 2 Master Volume and, maybe, to mod it to a different type of stripe (red or blue).
