Bit of a newb to this board, but I figure the stupid question is the one not asked.

I have a health issue that is impacting my ability to gig with my combo amps. I really, REALLY need to separate my combos into a head and cabinet set up. Otherwise, I figure I'm left with selling them as is, taking a bath $$$ wise, and purchasing the head and cabinets separately.

Is it possible to have the amp removed from the combo and cart them around separately? Is there a "reputable" dealer (or will Mesa) do something like this for me? Appreciate thoughts/comments, and please, if this is really stupid to ask, be gentle...

Thanks,

its possible to remove the chasis of the amp, but definetely not worth the trouble and time to do so. I understand how inconvienent having a combo amp can be compared to having a head / 212 extension as well. as a matter a fact i use to play in my old bands studio which was located in a finished cellar and i remember how difficult it was bringing my damn legacy combo up and down their tiny winding staircase, and i am pretty good shape. The stilletto head is about 35-4o lbs or so and my rectifier cab is about 65 lbs or so. much better than having to carry a 90 pound combo for sure. if you have to move your amp around a lot bite the bullet and go for the head / extension cab thing or get one of your stronger band members to carry it for ya :)

Hi Dadoffive: I've been wrestling with this too (no pun intended). My 2X12 Stiletto is quite a challenge to lug around and it only has the one leather handle on top. I have a hand cart, but have not gigged around much to comment on that approach (might be useful for dealing with stairs..). You might also consider an ATA case with wheels that has handles on both sides... That can probably handle stairs rather nicely and protect your baby as well..
