Im looking at a stage I trident. Whats the dif between the Stage I and Stage II?

i just bought a trident stage 1 with out really knowing the difference between the two. i still don't really know other than what mesa has on there website. however i can tell you that it is one of the best amps i have ever played, so much so that i don't really even care what the 2 sounds like. i believe the cleans to be mesas best and i have owned a lonestar and a roadster. (put a dynacomp in front of it and you will never put it down) channel two is bliss by itself.my only dislike was the faceplate but that was an easy fix.

it is not so much that i didn,t like it, but the stiletto is a popular amp and every one i see has that faceplate;

i like to stay a couple miles left of the herd

I love the leather smell of the front leather. It's like an old sports car. really cool. People catch me sniffin my amp all the time LMAO

Where did you get a different faceplate?

i bought the material at an upholstry shop in town to cover my cab and i had some left over so i did the head
it is really easy the metal grill is still there i just buried it, i like the vintage look better. the croc was glued on but came off pretty easily in one piece. i had to touch the face plate off with a sander just to get the glue residue off.in my first attempt i kept the metal

i used staples on the back to hold it on,it did not come out as tight as i would have liked because of the cutting involved around the metal grill (probably would have been better had i used glue)
so during try 2 i realized i could take the mesa badge off of the grill this made the project alot easier(also gave me the look i perfer) i also used a hobby contact cement i got at the depot in a spray can which gives it a much tighter apearance)
there is a pro grade product that probably holds better but i used staples on the back side and i may want to change it again when i upgrade to a 4 12
the best place i know of to get grill cloths is mojotone

Halfnote that looks great, I bought some tolex to do mine, how many screw hold the grill on I can see 3 on the top and 1 on the bottom os there more?. Also does the metal come off at all or do you need to cut around it if you want it to show?

Thanks

The metal comes off. It is alot easier if you leave the metal grill and put some painters tape on it to protect it, depending on what kind of material you have it can be difficult to cut it into the mortice. The Mesa badge also comes off this is alot easier and I think gives a much cleaner more "factory" look.
