Hi, new to the board and I have little experience with Mesas. Lately I’ve been interested in an early 2 channel Dual Rec and I need a little clarification.

From what I’ve read DRs went to 3 channels in 2000 and they were considered Rev G up until that point?

When they changed to 3ch did they change the front controls or did the two overdrive channels just share the same controls. I ask because I’m finding many of these that look like 2ch but are described as 3ch.

My next question is specific to this amp on Reverb. Does the faceplate look painted to you or stock. To me it’s shinier than the others I’ve seen.

Thanks in advance!

Rev Gs were the bulk of the 2 channel models made. Rev C to Rev F models were made from '92 to '93 or so, then it was all Rev G until late 2000 when the 3 channel models were released.

That Reverb amp is hard to tell from the pics, but it doesn't look entirely natural (I'd assume painted). But again, pics can be misleading.

That's a 2 channel Rev G in your GC link. They're notorious for posting wrong descriptions of items. They usually just grab the current description from manufacturer websites.

Thank you! I was thinking the same that it was a canned description.

Are all the G’s the same or should I look for certain years?

Almost. There were some random transitional oddities in the early G units, but those are very rare. Most of them are what you expect. (Unless of course they have been modded afterwards.)
