Help with Road King 2 - sudden loss of sound

Post by fleeced » Sun Jul 15, 2018 5:34 pm

Hi

Switched on my RK2 mains power, all normal, then switched the hivolts on and there was an audible pop from the right hand side (looking from front)

Now channels 1,2 and 3 are silent .. ch4 has really faint sound, - but with the pre amp distortion all sounding ok just really really faint

Main volume switch has no effect.
Switching between different power amp tubes no effect
Switching from diodes to tubes no effect
Switching between speakers a/b no effect
Switched out the ax7 tubes one by one - no effect
All tubes glowing (look normal) no weird sounds when tapped
All lights functioning normally
Channels switch ok

Any electrical wizards out there with any ideas?

What am I missing?

Any advice appreciated
It's only Rock 'n' Roll ...

A popping sound that wasn't through the speaker?

Most likely an electrolytic capacitor blew up. It's time for it to see the doctor.
