Road King ii v2 vs TC-100

Post by DrLantern » Sat Apr 28, 2018 4:53 pm

I'm on the search for a new amp and am torn between these two amps. I'm really into thick distortion tones and semi-djent stuff. I am leaning towards the RK but am worried it might not be as articulate as I'd like. I am not looking for something super articulate, just nothing too mushy if that makes since. I've played the reborn rec and loved it, I just don't know how it compares with the RK. Can someone with experience with either of these amps give me some tips?

I'd think the reborn dual/triples would be slightly tighter than the RK, less going on in the circuit.

I've heard good clips of the TC-100 but it's thinner and tighter than the rectos, haven't played it in person yet.

Scope it out and see if it scratches that recto itch.

The RK Modern voicing is dark but heavy AF. I found it to be plenty articulate, particularly when I kept the gain around 1 or 2 o’clock, tops, and used a boost.
