Supposedly one cannot answer this question just by the serial number on the amp.. which is R-015271, by the way.

I've contacted Mesa and they say it was most likely made in the late 90s. It also has a detachable power chord, which would lead me to believe it's a Rev G... but I do not have a solo boost, which I thought was typical of Rev Gs.. I did buy the amp used, without a foot-switch, so I ordered one from Mesa which only has one button to switch between channels.

I'm confused. I hope someone can help and maybe tell me if this is considered a decent Revision of the 2 channel dual recs. Personally, I love it, and I suppose that's all that matters... but I do know about all this talk of how the 2 channels are preferred over the 1st generation 3 channel models, but I imagine it depends on the Rev.

I hope I'm posting these pics properly. Sorry, noob here. Joined to learn more about this beast of an amp I have. Also my first tube amp. I'd also be curious to also hear someone's opinion of hitting the sweet spot on these amps. I feel like my 3 o'clock setting on the gain and master at 9:30 - 10, with added boost, may be too harsh on it. I play brutal/slam/tech death metal. Huge Suffocation, Death, Atheist, Decrepit Birth, Decapitated, Devourment, Faceless fan here. Cheers.

That's a Rev G, no 2 channel dual/triple ever had a solo boost, that was introduced with the 3 channel heads.
Great amp!

Also if your're boosting with an overdrive cut the gain back to 11-12 o'clock.
Non-boosted 2-3 o'clock, I like having all tone controls at 12 but mids maxed.

Glad to see you found it jdiz! Welcome!

Didn't I tell you this forum would be helpful? Your amp looks awesome!

Had a feeling your amp was a rev G, other guitar player in my band has a rev G triple made in 98', sounds fantastic!
