I've been wanting a Roadster for a while to get a different sound than my Mark IV, since I like the distortion that the Dual Recs I have played had. I say Roadster and not Dual Rec because I also want something that has a decent clean channel.

However, on my local Craigslist, there's a Voodoo Amps modded Dual Rectifier for a little bit less than the Roadster. The Voodoo mod apparently greatly improves the clean channel on the Dual Rec that I heard is pretty bad when stock.

Is it worth it to shell out 200-400 more for a Roadster than a Dual Rec like this?

Cheers.

The clean on the newer three channel dual rec is very good, actually. Very similar to Fender cleans. I think many players around here are running very hot pickups (EMGs, etc) which will make most clean amps sound bad. Hot wound pickups generally lack hi freqs, which sound great distorted, but dull and muddy on a clean amp.
However, the roadster cleans ARE better. Similar to the Lonestar classic tone.
