Two 1x12 cabs or one 2x12?

If it was a choice would you take two 1x12 cabs, or one 2x12 cabinet? Should it make a difference? Will it make a difference in recording? And what about if its for a stereo amp? Thanks.

whatever sounds best for whatever sound you are looking for. As you know recording is all about the acoustics of the room, mic placement, amp placement, amp levels/tones, preamp, guitar etc etc.

If you have the ability try both and see what you like.

I know a great player who use 2 Marshal 1x12 in stereo. Onstage they were on his left and right and seemed to work quite well.
