Would a Marshall DSL100 head with JJ preamp tubes and el34s sound good together with a Mesa single rec seriesII on the modern setting?
Both amps would run through a 1960a cab.
I'm going to try recording and I was just wondering if both guitars need to have similar tone.

EDIT: added more info(amp and cab names)

If you mean doubling the guitar with different amp, it's alright! As far as I know, the porpouse of doubling guitars is getting a different performance, and with different amp it would sound great! But you can go crazy and use a splitter to drive both amps at the same time, then double the guitar with both amps too, pan the first take to the left, the second to the right, and you get cuadruple tracking!!
