I'm looking for a high end hand held recorder for capturing ambient sounds such as street/traffic sounds, cafe/coffee shop chatter, distant church bells, etc to be used as fade-in and fade-out sound effects for my home studio recording work. Suggestions please.....

Thanks folks,

Try getting a shotgun microphone. They are use to capture that kind of sounds. You maybe have seen them in football games. But, they are expensive as far as I know.

Edirol R-4 Pro

Sony PCM-D1

HHB FlashMic

Korg MR-2

Marantz PMD661

Sony PCM-D50
